Can neurons pick up substances delivered through the skin via percutaneous absorption?

i'm wondering if the contents in topical creams that we apply on our skin can be picked up by neurons then sent to the brain?

Can neurons pick up substances delivered through the skin via percutaneous absorption?
Not really because nerve impulses are due to ions moving across cell membranes not chemicals traveling up nerves.

Some drugs can be absorbed through skin and block these nerve impulses. An example of this would be local anesthetic creams containing lignocaine. Lignocaine blocks the movement of sodium ions across the nerve membranes and blocks the nerve signal.

Any drugs that reach the brain from absorption through the skin would have to get there in the blood stream.
