Can anyone please tell me the difference between a cream and lotion?

I have a combination skin.. how do i know what moisturizer is good for me cream base or lotion base.. and if you can suggest one good moisturizer for my skin type...Thanks

Can anyone please tell me the difference between a cream and lotion?
A cream may be on a range from "stiff" (think cold cream or eucerin) or "thin" (think Clinique) - it all depends on how much shear has been put into it. For a drug - like 0.1% TAC cream - it will go on and stay moist until the air dries the top layer or it is completely rubbed to become a very thin layer which is undetectable (unless you are putting on silk in which case it will become obvious).

The only difference in the cream and lotion is that the lotion is a bit thinner than the cream. It's just like any other product that has both a cream and lotion version. The cream will be thicker in density than the lotion will. To make up for the slight dilution the lotion measures 1.8 oz (50 g), almost twice the size of the cream, which is 1.1 oz (30 g).

A lotion can be either water-in-oil or oil-in-water...again depends on how it was made. Keri Lotion is oil-in-water %26amp; Lubriderm is water-in-oil. You can feel the difference. Altho a cream can be oil-in-water or water-in-oil as well, the lotion is a more liquid product than the cream - just different porportions.
Reply:cream is semi solid and lotion is liquid
Reply:Marketing.
Reply:vaseline hand lotion. Cream is thicker than lotion(more like butter)-(lotion =dishwashing soap thickness).
Reply:Cream is creamy and spreadable and can be applied as a nourishing layer, especially for night application, lotion is more of a liquid and absorbs often more easily, especially in sensitive areas like around your eyes.

Try "Clinique" who have a variety of excellent products for almost any skin type.
Reply:I would suggest using a light lotion or just a normal lotion, because creams tend to lead to breakouts. Try using any of Kiehls products. They are absolutely amazing when it comes to skin care. Go to any Kiehls counter at a department store and I'm sure they will be glad to help you find something suitable for your skin type.
Reply:hello,

Cream looks like Ointment; Lotion is a little liquidy kind (like tomato ketchup.. sorry) Just giving you an exact idea.

I have seen a lot of varieties in Vaseline Incentive Care. Look for Combination skin care. If you do not find one in Vaseline Incentive Care, then ask the store people that you are looking for lotion for Combination skin.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Your question can't be answered by any one. You have to start using and select which suits your skin.
