Acne cream used with tanning?

hey, i love tanning! i do it all the time! but i havent in over 5 months for some various reason. anyways, now i wanna get bac to it but i have minor acne. whenever i expose my skin to the sun for long, it gets bad. so i was wondering if it isnt harmful to apply the acne cream AFTER i come back from the beach. or will my burnt/tanned skin be too sensitive?

That depends on what the acne cream contains as its active ingredient.





If it's a topical retinoid (Tretinoin, Isotretinoin, Adapalene) == (Retin-A, Topical Accutane, Differin), then it's alright, as these generally do not irritate the skin too much.





If it's erythromycin or clindamycin, or another topical antibiotic, do not, as these are already rather irritating and will cause a combined effect with that of the sun to cause greater incidences of peeling and soreness.





If it's triclosan, this biocidal chemical is generally a low-irritant and will be fine.





If it's benzoyl peroxide, this promotes peeling, so it may not be a good idea after being in the sun.








Anyway, if the acne cream you use ever irritates your skin with normal use, it is very likely that using after tanning will be a disaster, but if not, you may like to try.


The worse that will happen is that you'll get skin peeling, soreness, and redness.


The skin peeling isn't really dangerous to appearance (Think of chemical peels), but may itch or burn a little, so it isn't that appealing.
Reply:no no no, u cant do that! When u tan, your skin becomes very sensitive. Tanning is harmful to your skin to begin with, and adding acne cream that usualy contains benzyol peroxide, can actually eat your skin, cause a rash, or in the worst case, cause hypopigmentation, and your skin will have white spots! Be careful girl i was using proactive and spent a day tanning and my eye lids were so swollen and they looked wrinkly for about a month!
Reply:No matter if you are wearing or not an acne creme when you´re tanning, sun will only make your acne worse. Don´t tan until you get rid of your acne, and remember some acne cremes like Retin A are not to be used with the sun because you´ll get dark spots on your skin.
